Asthma

Nurse clinics are held regularly to monitor your illness, and offer advice and support.

Baby clinic

GP for postnatal 8 week checks and immunisations. Health visitors hold drop in Child Health Clinics at Blagdon Close, Wedmore Vale on a wednesday afternoon.

Contraception - Family planning

Doctors are keen to give contaceptive advice. All consultations are confidential, regardless of age. If you need emergency contraception telephone to make an emergency appointment.

Counsellor

The practice employs a cousellor and appointments can be arranged.

Diabetes

Nurse clinics are held regularly to monitor your illness, and offer advice and support.

Dietician

A doctor may refer you to a dietician if your weight is endangering your health.

District nurses

If you are unable to attend the surgery for nursing care, the District Nurses may visit you at home. A Health Visitor for older people is also part of this team

Drug and Alcohol Services

If you feel you have any problems about drink or drugs your doctor may be able to refer you on to specialist services. The practice follows the South Bristol Methodone protocol where all patients receiving methodone on prescription must see a Drugs Worker. All consultations are confidential.

Health Visitors

There are Health Visitors and Play Development Workers in the Health Visitors team. They aim to help you with child development and health issues. You can contact them by telephone on 9536644.

Heart disease

Nurse clinics are held regularly to monitor your illness, and offer advice and support. You will be invited to attend this clinic.

Immunisations

It is important to keep up to date with your immunisations to avoid serious illness. You can go to the treatment room or come to one of these clinics:

Childhood illness - we will invite your child to attend when they reach the age for their immunisation.

Flu jabs - we will invite you to attend for a flu immunisation if you are aged over 65 or have an illness that would be made worse if you caught flu.

Maternity

When you are pregnant you will receive regular care from Dr Latham and midwife before and after your baby is born.

Minor Surgery

Dr Fox is able to inject joints, freeze warts and remove some skin lumps.

Physiotherapy

A doctor may refer you to see a physiotherapist. They offer advice and threat problems with muscles or joints e.g. after an injury.

Podiatry (foot care)

If you have a problem with your foot care, or an illness (eg diabetes) that can effect your feet, please contact reception.

Repeat prescriptions

You can order repeat prescriptions in person or by post. Prescriptions will be ready in 48 hours. We can send your prescription to a local chemist.

Smoking

We run nurse clinics who can give nicotine replacement to help you give up smoking.

Speech therapy

If you are concerned about your child's speech or language, your doctor can refer you to a speech therapist.

Test results

These can be given out over the phone after 2.00pm. Results can only be given to the patient concerned.

Treatment room

A team of nurses provide a range of services for minor injuries, immunisations, blood tests, health checks, blood pressure testing, cervical smears, ear syringing and travel clinics. They run a range of health clinics and offer professional advice. To book an appointment, phone 9536644 between 8.30am and 12 noon.
