Flu vaccinations

Flu vaccinations will soon be available for the winter season 2011-12

Vaccination is offered to all patients over the age of 65; and to all with diabetes, heart disease, stroke, asthma or chronic lung disease.

If you are over 65 and not yet had your one-off pneumonia vaccination (unlike flu vacination which has to be repeated once a year,this lasts for the rest of yur life) you should also book for this

Even in a practice our size, we have over 1000 patients to vaccinate for flu! We are arranging seesions to vaccinate one person every 2 minutes. So please ring to attach yourself to whichever session you wish - please remember this is a quick apointment for the jab only.

Remember - the flu jab is NOT a live vaccine, so you CANNOT "catch flu" from it - whatever you may have thought from past experience. It protects against INFLUENZA only. Many people say "I've got flu" when what they have is a cold virus with a fever - the vaccination does not protect against these, only the real (and potentialy more serious) influenza bug
