Phoning us

Please help us to provide a better phone service! We have had some complaints about how long it takes to reach us by phone - please be assured that your call is not being ignored! We are genuinely trying to answer as quickly as possible; but if the receptionist is talking to someone face-to-face she cannot leave them to pick up the phone. Similarly, if you are waiting in a queue to see the receptionist, and she is speaking on the phone - she can only do one thing at once!

It would help if you use the phone before 11am ONLY to book an appointment for the same day, or to request a home visit or to speak to the doctor for advice. Please phone after 11am for all other queries, such as making routine appointments and ordering repeat prescriptions. Other enquiries, such as getting test results, asking if hospital reports have arrived, etc, are best left until after 2pm if possible.

Remember our on-line service for booking appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions, and making enquiries.

We are exploring the possibility of installing a touch screen booking in service so you would not have to queue for the receptionist - this is not universally popular, but would save you time and free our receptionist to answer that ringing and ringing phone!
